In his final press conference, GW Bush reminded me of Nixon.  Nixon tried to convince Americans that he wasn't a crook.  Bush tried to convince them that he wasn't a lousy president.  Let's see:  government spending is out of control, the senseless war in Iraq is still going, Saddam Hussein is still on the loose, immigration is out of control, the economy is in a severe recession and heading to a depression, the surplus Clinton left is gone and deficits are the norm, retail is down to levels not seen in ages, gas prices are all over the place, the Middle East is out of control, the stock market has collapsed, banks are failing, the biggest automakers in the US are on the brink of becoming history... etc etc etc.  No wonder everyone is celebrating the end of this tragic presidency.  Of course, Obama is the first African-American President, making this a historic moment, but he is also a sharp contrast to Bush.  While Obama is a great speaker and intellectual, Bush is a talking disaster and clearly not the brightest bulb in the chandelier.  So even those who did not vote for Obama are celebrating the departure of GW Bush, the man who came close to ending superpower status of the USA.  Let's hope it isn't too late for Obama to reverse the damage Bush did.
