September 10, 2008--Babs to Receive Kennedy Center Honor
On December 7, 2008, Barbra will receive a Kennedy Center Honor for her lifetime contributions to American Culture. Such contributions include her legendary recordings Emily, Grandma's Hands, A Little Help From My Friends, Guava Jelly, Space Captain, Honey Can I Put On Your Clothes, and such rare and hard to find interpretations of People, Happy Days Are Here Again and Evergreen. Other contributions include playing the guitar in A Star Is Born, piano at her concert and the finger cymbals in Other Musical Instruments. Let's not forget her contributions as an actress, which include Nuts, All Night Long, Up the Sandbox and her starring role in Driving Miss Daisy. Oh wait. Scratch the Driving Miss Daisy. She should have starred but didn't. However, Morgan Freeman did star in that lovely movie and will also be a receipient of a Kennedy Center Honor.

I hope the Kennedy Center honors her for having the most Greatest Hits albums EVER! You can never have enough of those. I hope she someday releases an album of each different version of People. That song never grows old.
