July 24, 2008--Another Compilation CD

Just when you thought no one could be so tacky, Barbra Streisand proves us wrong. Sony has announced "The Essential 3.0 Barbra Streisand" which is the same as "The Essential Barbra Streisand" released in 2002 plus 7 additional tracks (according to the Barbra Archives -- www.barbra-archives.com). Of the seven additional tracks noted by the Barbra Archives, only 3 have not been previously made available on CD. And get this, the package will retail for a whopping $24.98.

If you count Greatest Hits, Greatest Hits Vol. 2, Memories, A Collection, Just For The Record, Duets, and The Essential Barbra Streisand, this is the 8th compilation released--and she ain't even dead yet. And it will be the 14th time a version of "People" appears on a cd release. Come on, people who need people don't need another re-issue of people, especially when there are still a number of unreleased recordings.

I am CALLING FOR A BOYCOTT! BOYCOTT 3.0!

The decision to release this shows that there is definitely Life on Mars.

This may explain why Barbra isn't recording anything new. She's too busy campaigning.

I don't think you need to call a boycott. I think it will just happen. She is not gaining new fans and if her handlers had any savvy, they'd realize her fans would go crazy over unreleased material from when her voice was prime. If only Columbia would release a CD of hidden gems from 1963 to about 1975. Meanwhile, the stuff on this CD is material better released right before Christmas when shoppers are trying to figure out what to buy as a last-minute stocking stuffer.
