February 11, 2008--Yentl on Broadway

I've received a disturbing report. Yentl,that horrible Streisand musical, is heading to Broadway. Remember Yentl? That dreadfully slow melodrama where a 40 year-old Babs played a 20 year old girl disguised as a man (Anshel). Barbra's Anshel wouldn't even have won a drag king contest. For that matter, Anshel looked like an 40 year old woman in a man's clothes. She wore too much make up, talked like a girl and exhibited more feminine manners than Dolly Levi. Well, if they took Xanadu to Broadway, why not this? Maybe it will be a parody like Xanadu. Wouldn't that be great? And this time, Barbra could play "papa".

That's correct, so Britney could play Yentl on Broadway and bring a sense of realism to the role. I expect that Mariah and Whitney will also try for the lead. Personally, I think Joan Rivers would be a terrific Yentl - "Avigdor is so stupid - he took the pepsi challenge and choose Jif! Can we talk?" Perfection!

Yes - Joan would be AMAZING as Yentl. She is the perfect choice. If she's unavailable, Whitney or Mariah or Britney or Fergie or even Madonna could also play the role. When do tickets go on sale?
