I thought the role of Norma Desmond was one no one in their right mind would do. How times have changed. Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber is claiming that both Glenn Close and Streisand desperately want the part. Is it a shortage of movie roles for elderly woman? Is it that it's vogue to do musicals? Is it the opportunity to work with Sir Andrew? Or is it that they have no offers at present? Me thinks it's the latter. After her European Tour, Streisand really has nothing to do and she hasn't had a movie offer since Meet the Fockers. Ironically, I think she is good at doing stories that are quasi autobiographical. Hence, this is the perfect part for her.
