I saw several shows. Tarzan (with Josh Strickland) was a visual delight. No show can compete with the staging of this Disney production. While Phil Collins' music and the story had some weak moments, the show was very entertaining and moving. Josh really gave a great performance as Tarzan. What a voice! Sadly, Tarzan closes on July 8.

I also saw The Fantasticks, which is the source of several early Streisand songs (I can see it, Soon it's gonna rain...). It starred Anthony Fedorov of American Idol Fame. Anthony looked like an angel and sang like one, too. It was a small theater, but there were no microphones. He projected his voice like a pro.

Still, my favourite show was (believe it or not) XANADU. While most don't believe the mega-flop movie has any business on Broadway, I must say it was brilliantly put together. Xanadu parodies the movie it's based on and Broadway in general. It is truly an indictment of the current state of Broadway and it's lack of creativity (every other show is a remake or a musical of a Hollywood movie). BTW, Kerry Butler is simply brilliant. She skates well, acts well and sings like a muse. This is the show to see. If interested, see it soon. Critics are bound to pounce on it (as they do with anything not composed by the overrated Sondheim), and make it suffer an early close.

How dare you go to New York when there is Barbra news breaking daily. And how double dare you to compliment other Browdway singers when Barbra is on tour. It is like insulting our president when you are on foreign soil. Treasonous, I say. Treasous! Did anyone in Xanadu sing "People", "Emily", or "The Way We Were"? Noooooooooooooooooooooo, they didn't. And those are the most important songs in the world. I think I shall not visit this site a moment longer. I am totally verklempt (if that word can translate into "filled with rage." Thank you for ruining my life.

By the way, I hope to get to New York to see these shows. They sound wonderful! Love you!

Xanadu is the greatest musical ever to hit Broadway including Funny Girl. The only way it would be better is if they added Emily, but she's too busy, so we have to live with 99.9% perfection.

Hi Louis - did you see that Barbra is not allowing people who work at the hotel she's staying at in London to look her in the eye? I think it's because she doesn't want to ruin her site line to the telepromter when she sings People, Evergreen and The Way We Were. She sings those songs so rarely that she doesn't want to risk forgetting any of the words. Emily would be appalled.

There are other demands that are not being written about in the mainstream press.

1. Anyone who passes within 10 feet must hold their breath in case of flatulence. Earplugs are also required in case it is they are louder than her normal SBDs.
2. Caviar-flavored dog treats must be in the pockets of all staffers in case Samantha needs a snack at any given moment. Pork rinds, fried cheese (thanks, Louis) and beef jerky must be available in case Barbra needs a snack.
3. Emily's name must not be uttered because, for a time, Emily overshadowed Barbra.
4. "Smile" must be hummed by anyone within earshot of Barbra to remind her that it is the greatest song EVER.
5. No one is allowed to ask Barbra whether, why or how her mother "worked the mines."
6. Her STFU internet song is not to be requested.
7. No one in the front row is allowed to have a cup of water and/or ice.
8. All concert requests for "People," "Evergreen," and "The Way We Were" will be happily honored.
9. No one is to ask about future movie possibilites because there are none.
10. Questions about future albums are forbidden because the only thing left are more "Greatest Hits" albums that will include "Evergreen," "People" and "The Way We Were." In fact, the new album will be called "Greatest Hits IV, featuring "Evergreen," "People" and "The Way We Were."
11. No wardrobe questions will be allowed about comparisons to Mama Cass Elliot.

Dare I? I do! I'm going to new york again and if my wish comes true, I will be seeing Xanadu--twice. What's more, I will be seated on the stage (it is the only show where patrons can actually sit on the stage). Hopefully, it won't close before I get there. As for Babs, yes I've heard about her endless demands. It wouldn't be her if she didn't stop people from staring at her (unless there are paying for admission)

I'm going to see Xanadu just based on your recommendation, Lou. Meanwhile, I wonder, can you imagine what it is like to be Barbra and have people staring at you all the time? Tori Spelling is a pig but people probably stare at her, too.

Louis certainly understand people (who need people) staring. Everyone looks at him when he goes out!

"It's gotta be a strange twist of fate. Telling me that heaven can wait." That's my favorite Xanadu song. Is it in the show?
