One of the most astounding facts about Barbra fans is that they love to draw her. I've seen sketches, paintings, and even cake frosting depicting, or trying to depict, her unusual looks. This page will highlight some of the more unique pieces to land on my desk.

| The Way She Never Was |
| The Way She Will Become |
The following were supposed to be art, but as Sondheim put it: IT ISN'T EASY! Thanks to George Schubert for his extensive contributions.
One of my favorite New Yorkers, who also sent me the next one, found this somewhat erotic photo. It depicts Barbra and Jim in love (quite graphically). It reminded me of a movie book I saw many -- many -- years ago that had a chapter on Barbra. The chapter was called... "The Look of Love". The artist here has done what no other artist could: he has captured that look.

A New York reader, who shall remain nameless unless he requests otherwise, brought this stunning portrait to my attention. Printed in The New York Observer on October 2, 2000, this artwork was part of an article covering Barbra's farewell concerts in the Big Apple. As I analyzed this portrait, I concluded she either posed for it or was very close to Drew Freidman, the artist, when it was created. The portrait captures every major crease on her face AND hands. Of course, not all the lines are there--the artist did have a deadline, you know.

This piece was forwarded to me by George, who told me that it was on auction at Ebay. I guess the artist didn't see it's true potential, or they would have insisted the auction be conducted by Christie's. Note the green eyes, the straight nose, and the brown, highlight-free hair. Well, who said art had to be exact? Certainly not this artist, who aims to wow us with his Matisse-like use of color. Genius, pure genius.

Only a true artist and citizen could conjure this lovely portrait reminiscent of Barbra in her days as The Belle of 14th Street.

This one actually sold for $15 on Ebay. I guess it's become vogue to draw Barbra and sell it on Ebay. Why not? Some obsessed fan is gonna pay for it. This "sketch" attempts to recreate the Diva as she appeared in the most prominent photo used to promote A Star is Born. Note the poorly illustrated curls, the oversized eyes, the messed-up cheekbone, and an incorrect length of the face. Like they say, you get what you pay for.

This one was found while on sale at Ebay. The 3D sculpture is supposed to capture Barbra around the time of A Star is Born. Mind you, it took TWO artists to put this one together. Lovely hair.

The following were sent to me by, oh, I don't know who. However, I do know they are part of a comic strip called the Chelsea Boys, created by Glen Hanson and Allan Neuwirth. In this particular episode, Nathan has joined "Barbraholics Anonymous" and is feeling free. That is until Barbra herself joins him on the elevator (see the pics). Note how the artist renders her twice as tall as Nathan, svelte, and dare I say, classy. Of course, it's only seconds before Nathan starts to worship. In her dreams...

This artist's rendition of Barbra at 65 could've been done by one of those very expensive aging softwares used to find missing people. But wait, it isn't art...it's a bird, it's fried, it's, it's...Chicken Head! As you all read in the news, some poor person ordered chicken wings at a Newport News McDonalds and found this in his/her order. Dubbed "Chicken Head", the morbid thing quickly became star of the evening news. With those looks, how could it not? Speaking of looks, Chicken Head's likeness to our other star is truly uncanny.
